Wellness in the Gardens workshop

 

Second Wednesday of every month until June 12th

Join us on the second Wednesday of every month for mental and physical wellness activities in the Gardens! We will explore the health benefits of nature and gardening with all our senses. Programs take place from 12:00-12:45pm with an optional 15-minute gentle yoga extension at the end of each program. Yoga extensions are for all abilities and ages. Guests wishing to participate in yoga must sign a waiver and bring their own yoga mats or props.

Each program is $15.00 for not-yet-members (includes admission). Members take advantage of your membership by joining these wellness programs for free. Members contact the Programs Manager at 252-473-3234 ext. 102 to reserve your space! Limited space is available in each program.

February 14th – Valentine’s Meditation Walk
Take a walk through the Gardens where staff will guide you through wellness and breathe activities for loving kindness towards yourself, others, and the environment around you.

March 13th – Forest Bathing (“Shinrin-Yoku” in Japanese)
Staff will lead you on a guided walk through the Gardens and stop along the way for an immersive experience that engages all the senses to deepen your connection to nature.

April 10th – Gardening for Health
Learn about healing gardens and the health benefits related to gardening. Healthy gardening tips, garden activities, and recipes will be shared during this session.

May 8th – Gentle Nature Yoga
Using forms and spaces in nature we will breathe deeply while moving and stretching to relieve tension, stress, and balance the body. This gentle, easy yoga is structured for all abilities and ages.

June 12th – Children’s Movement
Join this fun session as a way to inspire your children to play in nature. This session will include fun games, movement exercises, and music! Suitable for children ages 4-9.
