WOOFstock Dog Competition

WOOFstock Contest Standards

These are the standards judges will be using to determine the winners of our dog contests for WOOFstock.

Saturday’s Competitions

  1. Best Bark: The dog will be expected to bark on command, within 10 seconds of the first command given by the owner.  Judges will use their discretion to award points based on volume or other characteristics.

  2. Best Woofstock Look: The dog will wear accessories or clothing that best represents the  Woofstock theme of the Late 1960 to early 1970’s era.

  3. Best Trick or Talent: The dog will be expected to perform the trick/talent within 10 seconds of the first command given by the owner. The judges will award points based on the difficulty of the trick and how well it is executed.

  4. Best Owner/Pet Look Alike: The dog and its person will be judged on hairstyle, accessories and/or clothing that accomplishes the look alike presentation.

  5. Best Dancer: The judges will be looking for the best executed dance moves, which may be done by the dog solo, or in tandem with the owner.

  6. Best Dressed: The judges will be looking for the best ensemble giving the dog a sharp, well dressed look.

Sunday’s Competitions

  1. Best Singing: The judges will be looking for the best singing, drawn out notes rather than short barks.

  2. Best Woofstock Look: The dog will wear accessories or clothing that best represents the  Woofstock theme of the Late 1960 to early 1970’s era.

  3. Best Treat Catch: Please bring a few of your dog’s favorite treats. The judges will be looking for the bet successful catch of tossed treats. The dog will remain on leash during the competition.

  4. Best Mom/furkid Outfits: The judges will be looking for the best mother/”daughter” or mother/”son” look in celebration of Mother’s Day. The look may be accomplished with hairstyle, accessories and/or clothing.

  5. Most Obedient: The dog will be expected to perform three tasks on lead: to sit on command, stay while the owner walks to the end of the lead, and to lie down on command from the stay position.

  6. Best Bark: The dog will be expected to bark on command, within 10 seconds of the first command given by the owner.  Judges will use their discretion to award points based on volume or other characteristics.

The Elizabethan Gardens is located adjacent to The Lost Colony's Waterside Theatre and Fort Raleigh National Historic Park on Roanoke Island nestled near North Carolina's Outer Banks. The gardens are open year-round, seven days a week except certain holidays.
