ADMISSION: Members/Friends: Free. Non- Members: standard admission. One child (under 5 years) admitted free with each paying adult. 

OVERVIEW

Egg spoon races, hat contest, musical acts, dancers, special visit from Sir  Walter “Peter” Wabbit, make and take crafts, egg roll race, find special prize eggs to win: prizes, gift certificates, stuffed animals and more!

This event has become an Outer Banks spring tradition held in the midst of the beautiful spring blooms featuring an egg scavenger hunt, photo opportunities, a homemade bake sale, egg roll on the Great Lawn, story time, educational crafts, games, music, an Easter bonnet and hat contest, and more kid-geared fun.

EASTER EGGSTRAVAGANZA SCHEDULE (subject to change)

• 10:00 a.m. Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Begins
• 10:30 a.m. Fiddle and Violin Time with Club Violin on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens.
• 11:00 a.m. Enjoy the music of the Mustang Music Program on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens
• 11:45 a.m. Musical Chair/ Cupcake Walk on the Great Lawn of the Gardens
• 12:00 p.m. Egg Races on the Great Lawn of the Gardens.
• 12:00 p.m. Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt Ends. Thanks for helping us crack all those eggs! 
• 12:30 p.m. Bonnet Contest/ Judging on the Main Stage. Best Booth announcement on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens. Coloring Contest Winners are announced on the Main Stage of the Great Lawn of the Gardens.
• 1:00 p.m. Vendors and Concession Close. Have a fabulous Easter.

We will have a Castle Bounce House too!

Butterflies Releases

Every Wednesday in April at 10:00 a.m. we LET IT FLY with butterfly releases in the John White Butterfly Center. General Garden Admission Applies. Come join us in the Gardens for a grand butterfly release and learn about butterflies. The butterfly release is firmly scheduled for 10:00 a.m. so attendees need to plan to arrive promptly by 9:45 for distribution. The butterflies will be released and given yummy watermelon. (April 3, 10, 17, 24)

Batik Butterfly

Every Thursday in April 9:00–Noon join us and make a butterfly using the art technique known as Batik. Pre-registration is required. Members: $35. Not-yet members: $45. Limited to 12 guests. Minimum of three required for class tom make. Join us Thursday mornings with local artist Robin York. We will create your very own butterfly painting. All supplies are provided. (April 4, 11,18,25)

Pop UP Art Gallery

Pop UP Art Show – Free with standard admission. Art prices as low as $50. Enjoy a glass of wine (cash bar, $5), morsels of cheese, and sweets while you stroll the gardens and see what the art community of North Carolina has to offer. See watercolor, acrylic, oils and mixed media paintings. Both established and new emerging artists will be presented together, giving the public a chance to see some favorites and to discover new works too. This is one show you will not want to miss!! Proceeds benefit The Elizabethan Gardens.

Spring and Sip Floral Arranging

$45 member, $50 non-members and guests. Class is limited to 16; minimum of 5 participants required

Carl Curnutte will lead a class on how to create a spring bouquet arrangement, all while sipping delicious wines and enjoying fine cheeses. This is the perfect opportunity to create a wonderful floral artwork showpiece for your table in this hands-on educational workshop.

Butterflies on Canvas

A mixed-media butterfly painting class inspired by butterflies! Class gathers every Tuesday in April starting at 1:00 p.m. Free with paid admission/ membership. All supplies provided (April 2,9,16,23,30)

Derby Party 2019

ABOUT THE EVENT

The classic event of the genteel south comes to The Elizabethan Gardens. Dress in style and enjoy the revels and embellishments of the race at this fundraising extravaganza that benefits two fantastic Outer Bank non-profits: The Elizabethan Gardens and Dare Education Foundation. Sponsored by Outer Banks Blue Realty. Expect a traditional southern affair with mint juleps, live and silent auctions, sumptuous derby pie, a hat contests and an assortment of live music, games and entertainment as you enjoy the beautiful gardens and anticipate the big race to be broadcast live. The event will take place on the Great Lawn.

Before the big race, attendees can also enjoy:

• Silent auction
• A Derby Hat Contest for party attendees (categories include Most Creative, Most Colorful and Best Overall)
• A live auction and award ceremony to announce the winners of these contest will be held before the big race.

AND OF COURSE, THE’RE’S THE DERBY RACE, streamed live on large screens.

Place bet’s on the winning stallion with our derby “Horse Bucks.” Winners will receive a variety of prizes based on their luck in the race.

ABOUT THE EVENT

For the love of dogs! WOOFstock is a family event for two legs and four, in fact canines enter free. One dog and one child free with each paid adult ticket! 

Dogs – All dogs must be on a leash, well-behaved, have a current rabies vaccination and be on a non-flex leash. Watering station for dogs will be provided.

WOOFstock also features local fur-loving exhibitors and activities for your entire family with contests (and first place prizes) for dogs. Backyard Birds

11am-12pm | FREE with admission

Discover more about the birds in your own backyard with educational and hands-on activities for inquisitive minds. Participants will learn how to draw birds and create a bird snack to take to their fine feather friends at home. Following our program, participants and their families can embark on a scavenger-hunt tour of the gardens for a prize reward to extend the fun. A snack will be provided.  Limited to 20 participants. (Indoors and Outdoors) Free with admission.

Fun with Frogs

11am-12pm | FREE with admission

Discover the exciting life cycle of frogs with educational and hands-on activities for inquisitive minds. Following our program, participants and their families can embark on a scavenger-hunt tour of the gardens for a prize reward to extend the fun. A snack will be provided. Limited to 20 participants. (Indoors and Outdoors) Free with admission.
