Aspects of Pruning Workshop

Limit to 12 persons to provide the best experience for all.

This will be a hands-on, intensive pruning workshop. Join us to learn about Langerstoemia indica, Crepe Myrtle and pruning techniques. Langerstoemia is a genus of about 50 species native mostly to India, also known as Queen of Flowers. Indica are deciduous trees that produce large landscaped areas of brightly colored flowers on new growth all Summer.

Butterflies Releases

Every Wednesday in April at 10:00 a.m. we LET IT FLY with butterfly releases in the John White Butterfly Center. General Garden Admission Applies. Come join us in the Gardens for a grand butterfly release and learn about butterflies. The butterfly release is firmly scheduled for 10:00 a.m. so attendees need to plan to arrive promptly by 9:45 for distribution. The butterflies will be released and given yummy watermelon. (April 3, 10, 17, 24)

Batik Butterfly

Every Thursday in April 9:00–Noon join us and make a butterfly using the art technique known as Batik. Pre-registration is required. Members: $35. Not-yet members: $45. Limited to 12 guests. Minimum of three required for class tom make. Join us Thursday mornings with local artist Robin York. We will create your very own butterfly painting. All supplies are provided. (April 4, 11,18,25)

Butterfly Keeper Day

Do you love butterflies? Want to join our team of butterfly keepers in tending to these beautiful creatures? Then join us on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 10:00-2:00 p.m. for Butterfly Keeper Day.

Learn how to care for butterflies and see what they need to be healthy and happy alongside our butterfly keepers. Learn how to identify tropical butterflies and help unpack, release and feed newly-emerged butterflies. Participants receive a “Butterfly Keeper for a Day” t-shirt and a certificate. Includes admission and a bagged lunch.

Limited to 14 participants. Must be 8 years or older. Members: $20 adults, $15 for children under 15 years. Non-Yet Members: $30 adults, $20 for children under 15 years. Must pre-register and RSVP five days before event.
