Butterfly Center Support
Become a Supporter of the John White Butterfly Center
The western world first saw the beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail (NC’s state butterfly) in the watercolor depictions of Elizabethan artist and new world traveler John White, who visited Roanoke Island. Fitting then that The Elizabethan Gardens new butterfly house (see artistic rendering) will bear his name. It’s an exciting project and we want you to be a part of it!
With your support, the John White Butterfly Center will help us to protect the butterfly through education and research. A typical butterfly travels many miles and interacts with many environments during their life cycle. Because of this, they make great indicators.
With your support, we join a butterfly study that involves tagging butterflies. Tagged butterflies will be entered into a database so when a tagged butterfly is found, the data can be compared and we can learn more about migratory patterns, and health of these beautiful creatures. We feel strongly that this will enhance our Center and our commitment to the natural world.
Donations of $75.00 go toward our Butterfly Center. All donor names will be listed on a permanent display in the new John White Butterfly Center at The Elizabethan Gardens.
Payments can be made by check, credit card or by installment using the form provided on the back page. Payments (or six-month installment pledges) to the project must be made by Friday, May 31, 2018. Pledge payments are to be paid in full by Friday, September 24, 2018. Sponsor signage will be installed in September.
